• The archer dies before damage can matter.
• Movement or range creates unsafe positioning.
• A job bonus needs support from the rest of the build.
• A long Endless route needs scaling rather than a short-wave fix.

If the Symbol screen appears before you understand the blocker, choose conservatively and record what changed in the next familiar wave.

How to choose a Symbol by blocker

Damage blocker

Look for choices that clearly improve the attack pattern, skill pressure, or damage route you are already using. If the option depends on a job or item you do not use, test before building around it.

Survival blocker

Look for choices that help the archer stay alive long enough to apply damage. Do not treat survival as one stat; armor, kill speed, range, recovery, and positioning can all change whether a wave is safe.

Positioning blocker

If movement has been pushing the archer into danger, avoid Symbols that make the same behavior worse unless another part of the build offsets it. Watch the next wave before committing to a chain of similar choices.

Job synergy blocker

Symbols can support the job you are already testing. If a Symbol strengthens the same behavior that Preferred Job doubles, the build may become more focused. If a Symbol points away from the current job, test one wave before changing both layers.

Exalted Symbols

The September 4 update names Exalted Symbols, but this wiki does not yet have verified values, rarity behavior, or a complete interaction list. Treat Exalted Symbols as confirmed to exist, not as solved optimization data.

When verifying an Exalted Symbol, record:

• The build or patch version.
• The exact Symbol name and screen text.
• The choices offered beside it.
• The current job and Preferred Job.
• The wave or system where the effect was tested.
• Before-and-after results from a familiar wave.

Interactions to check

Symbols can affect build direction, so check them against other systems instead of reading them in isolation:

• Jobs and Preferred Job - whether the Symbol reinforces the doubled job bonus.
• Upgrades - whether the Symbol solves damage, survival, positioning, or system access better than a node.
• Crafting - whether gear already solves the same problem.
• Mining and Gathering - whether ability empowerment changes the value of the Symbol.
• Ring System and Endless - whether the Symbol scales into Portal currency, Rings, or Endless farming.
